Erosion Control and Rip-Rap

E. Dillon and Company supplied the rip rap for the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers Grundy Relocation project. Dillon also supplied the rip rap for the Virginia Department of Highways Route 460 flood wall project.

Rip-Rap is the largest stone size available and is most commonly used for erosion control and controlling water flow.

Following are the most used sizes:

  • Class I - 50 lbs to 150 lbs. or 12- 18
  • Class II 150 lbs to 500 lbs. or 18 26
  • Class III 500 lbs. to 1500 lbs. or 26 36
  • XL Gabion - 8 to 12
  • Gabion 4 to 6
